Community Involvement

Kevin Kilcommons

I am currently President of the Open Cupboard Food Pantry, Clinton, which is now in the process of relocating from High Bridge.  The Open Cupboard is a not-for-profit corporation providing food, clothing and other necessities to those in need in the north Hunterdon region. I have been involved with the Open Cupboard for a dozen years.

I was previously involved in the Immaculate Conception School, Annandale, School Advisory Committee, which later became the School Advisory Council upon approval by the Metuchen Diocese to commence construction of a K through 8 school for just over 500 students. I later became the chairman of this committee. In all, I spent approximately 13 years on this very worthwhile mission.

Finally, I am a charter member of the New Jersey State Bar Association's Mass Disaster Response Team, which has been activated periodically over the last decade in response to natural and man-made disasters, as well as the 9/11 attacks. In addition, I am a former board member of the Hunterdon County Chapter of the American Red Cross (seven years).

Scoutmaster, Boy Scout Troop 121, Clinton. . I spend a lot of my free time helping to create future leaders.  If run properly, all BSA Troops are led by the boys themselves and Troop 121 is no exception.  My job is to make suggestions, and encourage the boys to develop and carry out a program.  The boys lead under the supervision of an elected "Senior Patrol Leader," who is usually an older Scout and who is supervised by the Scoutmaster.  Knowing it is important that boys have opportunities to learn,  I supervise to ensure safety and give feedback, and not necessarily to prevent failure.  www.bsatroop.121.org
